Insieme Wines 2017 Cabernet Franc was aged for 34 months in new and neutral oak for an approximate 50% new oak equivalent. A lighter regimen of oak was specifically used to preserve varietal expression and terroir. This wine is unfined and unfiltered to preserve maximum phenolic composition. It has a rich Garnet color that is fairly concentrated. The bouquet opens with aromas of crushed black pepper, raspberry and red currant. The mouthfeel is rich and oily, medium viscosity with soft chewy tannins and bright palate cleansing acidity. The palate reveals red fruit, bing cherry, raspberry and a touch of black pepper. With a little time it opens to slightly darker fruit, oil cured olives and spices. The light regimen of oak offers subtle hints of chestnut and tree bark.
